The Municipality of Luna, La Union formally organized its Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC) on August 28, 2025, with the active participation of local cooperatives and partner government agencies.

The event was attended by representatives from various cooperatives in Luna, the Cooperative Development Authority – Region I Extension Office (CDA R1 EO), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Local Government Unit of Luna.

Senior Cooperative Development Specialist (Sr. CDS) Filipina H. Porio and Ms. Kimberly M. Alimpia (Designate MCODO- Luna, La Union) facilitated the orientation, assisted by Cooperative Development Specialist II (CDS II) Engr. Marwin C. Peralta, who provided technical guidance on the legal framework, functions, and responsibilities of the council.

The MCDC is envisioned to serve as a coordinating and policy-recommending body that will strengthen collaboration among cooperatives and align their programs with local development priorities.
