Mandatory Trainings Strengthen Cooperatives in La Union

Aringay, La Union – January 13–16, 2026. The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aringay spearheaded a four-day Mandatory Training program designed to strengthen and prepare cooperatives for compliance with reporting requirements. The event was graced by Vice Mayor Charito Sibuma-Yu and Sangguniang Bayan Member Ramsey Mangaong, who both underscored the vital role of cooperatives in local and national development.

Vice Mayor Yu emphasized the importance of cooperatives in nation-building, highlighting their contribution to economic empowerment and community resilience. She reaffirmed the LGU’s commitment to support cooperatives in the municipality, ensuring they are equipped to meet both operational and regulatory demands.

 

 

Meanwhile, SB Member Mangaong shared the plans of Congressman Dante S. Garcia to establish a Trading Post in Bauang, La Union, a project envisioned to benefit cooperatives by providing them with expanded market opportunities and stronger economic linkages.

The training aimed to equip cooperative officers with the knowledge and skills necessary for the timely submission of mandatory reports—an essential requirement for compliance and sustainability.

Participation and Impact

  • 4 municipalities in La Union joined the activity.
  • 10 cooperatives were represented.
  • A total of 63 cooperative officers and members actively participated.

 

 

Certificates of completion were awarded to all participants, recognizing their dedication to strengthening cooperative governance and accountability.

This initiative reflects the LGU’s proactive stance in empowering cooperatives, ensuring they remain compliant, competitive, and capable of driving inclusive growth in the province.
