In a remarkable show of unity and compassion, Pao Elementary School—nestled in the far-flung mountainous area of San Fernando, La Union—became the heart of a meaningful outreach program held in celebration of the city’s Cooperative Month.

Spearheaded by the San Fernando City Development Council under the leadership of Chairperson Aurie Nellie Tumbaga, and with the support of City Mayor Hon. Hermenegildo Gualberto, thru Jimhel Camarao CDS I of the City Cooperative Development Office, the event brought joy and support to the school’s young learners. Mayor Gualberto generously sponsored food packs for the activity ensuring that every child was nourished during the celebration. Likewise, City Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee Chairman Hon. Leoanardo Soriano sponsored the giving of vitamins to boost the immune system of the pupils.

The program was made possible through the concerted efforts of various city cooperatives, who pooled their Community Development Fund to provide essential school supplies, vitamins and hygiene kits to the pupils. A total of 101 children received these items, helping equip them for a successful academic journey.

Beyond student support, the school administration was gifted with seeds, seedlings, office supplies, and books—resources that will enhance both educational and environmental initiatives within the school.

Adding excitement to the day, raffle draws were conducted, bringing smiles and surprises to attendees. A special highlight was the participation of Robinson San Fernando City, whose manager, Mr. Jose Garcia, was invited by Mrs. Rizalyn Medrano, Chairperson of Agserbi Kadakayo Amin Multipurpose Cooperative . As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, Robinsons donated 101 pairs of slippers for the pupils and additional office supplies for the school staff.

This outreach program stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between local government unit, cooperatives, and private enterprises—proving that when communities come together, they can create lasting change and uplift lives.
