Strategic Planning Training for Cooperative Development Officers in the Province of La Union

On July 29–30, 2026, appointed and designated cooperative officers from various municipalities gathered at the Bacnotan Farmers Agri-TourismTraining Center, Baroro, Bacnotan for a two-day Trainors’ Training on Strategic Planning.

The training was led by distinguished resource speakers Atty. Frederick Joe N. Robles and Engr. Marwin C. Peralta, who shared their expertise on cooperative governance, organizational planning, and sustainable development strategies.

Importance of the Training

This trainors’ training is vital for cooperatives because:

  • Capacity building: Officers gain practical tools to guide their respective cooperatives in their municipality  in setting clear goals and implementing effective programs.
  • Strategic alignment: Ensures that cooperative activities are consistent with their mission and responsive to community needs.
  • Leadership development: Strengthens the ability of officers to lead with vision, accountability, and inclusivity.
  • Sustainability: Equips cooperatives to adapt to challenges while maintaining long-term growth and stability.

By training the trainers, the program ensures that knowledge cascades down to grassroots members, empowering cooperatives across municipalities to thrive.

The event was graced by Hon. Divina C. Fontanilla, Municipal Mayor of Bacnotan, whose presence underscored the local government’s support for cooperative development. The officers and participants extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Fontanilla for generously providing free accommodation of the venue, making the training possible in a conducive and welcoming environment.

This training marks another step toward strengthening cooperative leadership and ensuring that communities continue to benefit from well-managed, people-centered organizations.
