Strengthening Cooperative Leadership: CDA and PGIN Conduct Series of Trainings

“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”- Henry Ford.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), successfully conducted a series of capacity-building trainings for cooperative officers across the province held at the INAFEC Building in Laoag City. These programs aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills, management and governance practices of cooperative leaders, ensuring stronger and more sustainable organizations.

Strategic Planning

From August 11–13, 2026, a total of 61 participants representing 28 cooperatives attended the Strategic Planning Training. The sessions focused on equipping cooperative officers with tools to set clear directions, formulate long-term goals, and align cooperative activities with community development priorities. CDA served as the resource speakers, while PGIN provided funding and facilitation support.

Seminar on Bookkeeping

On August 25–27, 2026, the Seminar on Bookkeeping gathered 60 cooperative officers from 33 cooperatives. Participants gained practical skills in maintaining accurate books of accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering trust among members.

Parliamentary Procedures

Parliamentary Procedures held on September 10, 2026, attended by 56 Board of Directors from 25 cooperatives. This program strengthened cooperative leaders’ ability to conduct meetings effectively, make democratic decisions, and uphold organizational discipline. By mastering parliamentary rules, cooperative boards can ensure fairness, order, and inclusivity in their governance processes.
