CDA Chairman, Undersecretary Alexander B. Raquepo, graced the opening of the Cooperative Trade Fair and Product Exhibit during the opening salvo of the Cooperative Month Celebration in Northern Mindanao on October 5, 2025, held at the Capitol Grounds in Cagayan de Oro City.
Accompanied by CDA Regional Director Aminoden A. Elias, Senior Cooperative Development Specialist Edwin B. Pelosas, and other cooperative leaders from across Region 10, Chairman Raquepo led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting that officially inaugurated the event.
The trade fair and product exhibit showcased locally produced goods, including processed food, agricultural products, and traditional handicrafts, in a vibrant display. More than simply a venue for product promotion, each booth also served as a platform for cooperatives to share their stories of resilience and collaboration, emphasizing their vital role in strengthening community development.
Among the highlights of the exhibit was the strong participation of coconut farmer cooperatives supported by the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP). Their booths displayed an impressive variety of coconut-based products, including virgin coconut oil, coco sugar, coco vinegar, handicrafts, and processed food items, demonstrating not only the versatility of the coconut but also the ingenuity and resourcefulness of local producers.
The event likewise drew keen interest from local government officials, cooperative leaders, business stakeholders, and consumers. Many lauded the quality, creativity, and sustainability of the products, while others expressed enthusiasm for supporting locally made goods and exploring market opportunities, particularly in coconut-based innovations.
Beyond the product displays, the exhibit also became a meaningful avenue for networking and collaboration. It allowed cooperatives to exchange best practices, forge potential partnerships, and reaffirm their solidarity in advancing the cooperative movement. By bringing communities together through shared enterprise and innovation, the activity highlighted the vital role of cooperatives in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development.
