Region 10 Kicks Off 2025 Cooperative Month with a Festive Opening Salvo

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) – Region 10, together with the Regional Cooperative Development Council (RCDC) 10, officially opened the 2025 National Cooperative Month on October 5, 2025, at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Misamis Oriental, with the Theme “Cooperatives United in Purpose and Action, Sharing Prosperity to Build a Better World.” This meaningful celebration was attended by two hundred thirteen (213) cooperatives, municipal, and city cooperative development officers and councils within Region 10, showcasing the spirit of unity and purpose.

The event began with a Thanksgiving Mass to ask divine guidance for the month-long celebration. Soon after, the grand parade filled the Capitol Grounds with energy and color as participating cooperatives proudly displayed their vibrant t-shirts and banners, each one symbolizing the creativity of the movement.

One of the day’s main highlights was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Coconut Farmers Trade Fair at the Farmers Market. The event was graced by CDA Chairman, Usec. Alexander B. Raquepo, CDA Regional Director Aminoden A. Elias, Cagayan de Oro City Administrator- Atty. Roy Hilario P. Raagas, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives of the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, Hon. Atty. Louie Jay Ban V. Jarales, Chairperson of the Committee of Cooperatives of the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Hon. Councilor Gilda O. Go, Provincial Cooperative Office (PCO) Department Head Alberto B. Acain, RCDC Chair Dr. Gervacio I. Piator, and CCDC Chairperson Edgardo A. Micayabas, who showed strong support for coconut farmers and their significant role in the cooperative sector.

Region 10 was beyond privileged because of the presence of no less than Usec. Raquepo, who gave his keynote message. In his message, he emphasized the life-changing benefits of being part of a cooperative. He highlighted how cooperatives not only offer economic opportunities but also create lasting social impact through accessible credit, tax incentives, and programs designed to uplift the youth and marginalized communities.

Adding excitement to the day was the Coop Muse and Prince Presentation, where the Top 10 finalists competed for the coveted titles. The winners were:

  • 1st Place: Northern Mindanao Medical Center MPC
  • 2nd Place: Del Monte Philippines, Inc. Employees And Community Credit Cooperative (DMPI-ECC)
  • 3rd Place: Servus Multipurpose Cooperative (SERVUS MPC)

COOP PRINCE

  • 1st Place: Aces Agriculture Cooperative (AAC)
  • 2nd Place: Nestle Cdo Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative
  • 3rd Place: Oro Integrated Cooperative

Special awards were also presented to outstanding cooperatives in various categories:

  • Farthest Cooperative (By Land): San Miguel Farm Workers MPC

  • Farthest Cooperative (By Sea): Mambajao Multipurpose Cooperative

Through this regional kickoff, CDA Region 10 and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the cooperative movement built on shared prosperity, service, and solidarity that continues to reach communities across the Philippines.
