In celebration of Global Money Week 2026, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Extension Office successfully implemented a series of meaningful and engaging activities aimed at promoting financial literacy and responsible money management among cooperative members and the wider community. The initiative was led by Regional Director Glenn S. Garcia, reinforcing CDA’s commitment to building financially empowered and resilient communities.

Anchored on the Global Money Week theme, “Smart Money Talks: Learn. Save. Earn.”, the activities were designed to educate and inspire participants, especially the youth, on the importance of making informed financial decisions. The program also aimed to promote inclusivity across age groups, encourage creativity in communicating financial concepts, and strengthen community engagement through the participation of cooperatives, families, and educators.

Smart Money Talks: Financial Literacy Seminar

A major highlight of the celebration was the “Smart Money Talks: Financial Literacy” seminar conducted on March 17, 2026, through a blended format of online (Zoom) and limited face-to-face participation. The session featured resource speaker Jerson Remo, CPA, MPA, who shared valuable insights on budgeting, saving, investing, and entrepreneurship.

The seminar included interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, enabling participants composed of cooperative members, youth, and community leaders to gain practical knowledge and strengthen their financial decision-making skills.

Through these initiatives, CDA Region XI successfully fostered awareness, creativity, and engagement in financial literacy. Participants not only enhanced their understanding of responsible financial management but also developed communication, critical thinking, and creative skills essential for their personal and professional growth.

The success of the Global Money Week 2026 celebration highlights the strong collaboration among CDA, cooperatives, and stakeholders in promoting financial education. It underscores the importance of empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve financial independence and sustainability.

With continued efforts such as these, CDA Region XI remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate financially literate communities, contributing to inclusive growth and long-term development.
