The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Extension Office, through its Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Unit, successfully conducted series of orientation on the Financial Consumer Protection Act (FCPA), implementation of the Financial Consumer Protection Act Management System (FCPAMS), and other related issuances across various areas in Region XI, particularly Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. The activity was attended by a total of 119 CDA Regulated Entities (CDARE) or cooperatives offering financial products and services with an aggregate attendance of around 300 participants.

The orientations were conducted on the following dates and venues:

May 13, 2026- Brokenshire Resort and Convention Center

May 19, 2026- Malita SB Hall, Malita, Davao Occidental

May 21, 2026 – 3rd Floor, GrandCon, Capitol, Mati, Davao Oriental

May 26, 2026 – Activity Hall, Provincial Capitol, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro

May 28, 2026 – Bulawagn ng Karunugan, Tagum, Davao del Norte

This initiative was made possible through the strong partnership and support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and their respective Cooperative Development Offices (CDOs), demonstrating a shared commitment to strengthening consumer protection mechanisms and promoting regulatory compliance within the cooperative sector.

The activity enhanced the participants’ awareness of consumer rights, regulatory compliance, and risk management. It also reinforced the commitment of cooperatives to uphold transparency, accountability, and the fair treatment of financial consumers. Cooperative officers, lending operations management personnel, and cooperative staff actively participated in the discussions, raised relevant concerns, and shared best practices on consumer protection and complaint management.

Overall, the orientation achieved its intended objectives, garnered positive feedback from participating cooperatives and stakeholders, and strengthened their commitment to regulatory compliance and consumer protection.

The next FCPAMS Orientation for cooperatives in Davao del Sur is scheduled in June 2026, with the support of the Provincial Local Government Unit through the Provincial Cooperative Development Office.###
