Malasakit Para sa Kooperatiba Financial Assistance Program
The Malasakit Para sa Kooperatiba Financial Assistance Program, proposed by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, was established to provide direct financial support to cooperatives facing persistent operational and financial constraints. Many cooperatives, particularly small and developing ones, continue to struggle with limited access to capital, rising operational costs, and weak financial resilience, which hinder their ability to serve members effectively. These challenges underscored the need for immediate, accessible, and targeted government intervention to sustain cooperative operations and promote inclusive economic growth.
Under the program, thirty-three (33) cooperatives in Region XII received real checks amounting to Php 100,000.00 each, distributed through CDA offices in Kidapawan City, General Santos City, Koronadal City, and Tacurong City on January 12, 13, 14, 20, 2026 respectively. This decentralized distribution improved accessibility, reduced travel-related expenses, and ensured timely receipt of assistance. The financial support strengthened cooperative liquidity, enabled continuity of services, and enhanced the capacity of cooperatives to respond to members’ needs. Moving forward, CDA may consider strengthening fund utilization monitoring, expanding technical assistance, and conducting impact studies to assess long-term outcomes and guide policy refinements.
Overall, the program demonstrates the effectiveness of direct financial assistance in strengthening cooperatives and addressing immediate sectoral challenges. It reinforces the importance of accessible, responsive, and well-coordinated government support in advancing sustainable cooperative development.
