CDA Caraga Achieves Another Milestone with KoopKapatid Orientation, MOA Signing, and Market Linkage for Cooperatives for Surigao Del Sur District I

The year isn’t over yet, another milestone was forged as the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)–Caraga Region successfully conducted the KoopKapatid Orientation, Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), and Market Linkage Activity for Cooperatives on November 26, 2025, at the Surigao del Sur Community Initiative Multipurpose Cooperative (SCI MPC) Function Hall, Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City.

This significant undertaking reaffirms CDA Caraga’s steadfast commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector, particularly micro and small cooperatives, through the KoopKapatid Program—a national initiative anchored on the “Big Brother–Small Brother” mentoring approach.

Partner Cooperatives SCI MPC and TANCGOEMPCO formalized their commitments by signing MOAs with their designated beneficiary cooperatives, including several Coconut Farmers Cooperatives in the province. With this, a total of twelve (12) beneficiary cooperatives are now being assisted within the Tandag City KoopKapatid cluster—demonstrating a growing culture of solidarity and shared responsibility within the cooperative community.

The activity was attended by CDA Regional Director Monatao Honeya R. Alawi, DPA, who expressed optimism over the strengthened collaboration among cooperatives. Local Chief Executive Hon. Roxanne C. Pimentel also extended her message of support, highlighting the City Government’s continued commitment to empowering local cooperatives and promoting sustainable livelihood initiatives.

This milestone highlights the core values of the cooperative movement—solidarity, mutual help, and collective progress—as cooperatives join forces to uplift smaller organizations. The strengthened partnership between big and small cooperatives reflects the region’s shared vision of inclusive growth and long-term economic empowerment.

CDA Caraga encourages more cooperatives to join the KoopKapatid Program, reaffirming its mission to build a stronger, more resilient cooperative sector that actively contributes to community development and local economic prosperity.
