Cooperativism Still on Fire: Surigao del Sur District 2 Coop Month Celebration 2025

It was an undying culture of cooperativism, proving that the movement continues to be on fire as long as teamwork among cooperatives, stakeholders, and LGUs keeps on burning.

Last October 2025, the Cooperative Month was celebrated not only by cooperatives but also by partners in the movement. It is a festivity anticipated by everyone, showing the community that cooperatives remain part of the driving force in achieving social justice and economic development.

The City of Bislig kicked off the month-long celebration held at Mangagoy, Bislig City, on October 4, 2025, simultaneous with the 9th KOOPALAKASAN 2025, a sports activity that promotes sportsmanship and camaraderie among cooperatives. Part of the celebration was the Blood Donation and HIV Testing, as well as the Training on Parliamentary Procedure, held at the 3rd Floor, Medical Arts Building, Andres Soriano Memorial Hospital Cooperative, Comawas, Bislig City, on October 18 and 24, respectively. The celebration concluded with a culmination program and the 1st City Cooperative Congress held at the Convention Center, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

The neighboring municipalities of Bislig were also on the same flame, as the Municipalities of Hinatuan and Barobo vibrantly celebrated the Cooperative Month with cooperative product displays, Larong Lahi, and showcasing of cooperative talents held on October 21 and 22, respectively. In Hinatuan, the activity took place at the Cultural Plaza, while in Barobo, it was held at the Saparang Ground.

The highlight of the activities held by these cities and municipalities was the recognition of best-performing cooperatives that complied with both the regulatory and developmental aspects of cooperative operations—essential elements for the growth not only of the cooperative but especially of its members and the community.

These successful activities were the result of strong partnership among the Cooperative Development Council, the Cooperative Development Office, and the Local Government Units of Bislig, Hinatuan, and Barobo.

Indeed, the cooperative movement is at its best when the doers of society work hand in hand to keep the torch burning and the flame of cooperativism flaring.
