Strength in Solidarity: The 2026 Koop Kapatid Program Orientation for Butuan City Cooperatives

On March 11, 2026, the CDA Conference Room at Pili Drive, Butuan City, became a hub for cooperative synergy as representatives gathered for the Koop Kapatid Program Orientation. Conducted in collaboration with CEBDD–LGU Butuan, the activity sought to bridge the gap between established and emerging cooperatives through a “big brother-small brother” mentorship framework.

The session opened with a warm welcome from Ms. Anecita O. Unson, the Supervising CDS of CDA. CCDO Chairperson Edgar M. Palarca, Jr. emphasized inclusive growth, noting that the Koop-Kapatid Program under MC 2023-02 serves as a vital bridge for local economic development. He stressed that through this mentorship, we can ensure that no cooperative in Butuan City is left behind in the pursuit of local economic development.

To provide a solid technical foundation, CDS II Shema Michal G. Lubrio detailed the operational mechanics of the program as outlined in Memorandum Circular 2023-02. Participants gained a clear roadmap of their roles and responsibilities. Adding a layer of practical evidence, Ms. Kiesha Glaze N. Guimare, CCDO presented a report on the previous year’s implementation, showcasing the tangible impact the program has already made in the community.

The orientation concluded with a sense of shared purpose. With 26 prospective cooperatives now equipped with the necessary knowledge and inspiration, Butuan City is well-positioned to foster a more resilient and interconnected cooperative sector.
