Amulung, Cagayan (CDA) – – The cooperative movement in the Province of Cagayan is poised for accelerated growth following a successful and highly productive meeting of the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) on September 26, 2025. Key stakeholders gathered to establish a unified strategy, directly aligning local cooperative efforts with the broader provincial development agenda. This decisive move is expected to significantly strengthen the economic and social impact of cooperatives across Cagayan.

One of the agenda during the meeting was the presentation of the recently launched Provincial Cooperative Development Plan (PCDP) by Ms. Annalyn L. Catulin, Sr. CDS from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

The PCDP is a crucial strategic roadmap crafted to guide the evolution and strengthening of the cooperative sector, ensuring alignment with national development goals and global sustainability commitments. It provides a coherent policy and program framework that translates the mandates of the CDA into actionable strategies, clear sector-wide priorities, and measurable outcomes. More importantly, it enshrines the collective aspirations and developmental role of the cooperative sector in nation-building.

The Council meeting fostered significant inter-agency collaboration. Representatives from various line agencies of the provincial and national government were in attendance and actively presented their respective programs and projects. These presentations specifically outlined how their resources and technical assistance could be channeled to support and reinforce the initiatives of local cooperatives, ensuring the PCDC’s unified strategy is supported by tangible government services.

With a unified strategy, a clear roadmap established in the PCDP 2025-2028, and the full backing of government projects for the co-ops in the province, the cooperative sector in Cagayan is now well-positioned to become a powerful driver of sustainable and inclusive development in the years to come.
