CDA MIMAROPA Empowers Youth Through Financial Literacy Program in Celebration of Global Money Week 2026

The Cooperative Development Authority MIMAROPA Extension Office successfully conducted its Global Money Week (GMW) 2026 Celebration on March 18, 2026 at Mangyan Hall, Capitol Site, Calapan City. The activity aimed to strengthen financial literacy among the youth and promote responsible financial behavior through an engaging and educational program.

The activity was spearheaded by the Cooperative Research, Information and Training Section (CRITS) and the Cooperative Credit Surety Fund Section (CCSFS), in coordination with the Cooperative Project Development and Assistance Section (CPDAS). The collaboration of the three sections highlights the strong commitment of the CDA MIMAROPA Extension Office in promoting financial literacy and youth empowerment across the region.

The event gathered youth representatives from the five provinces of the MIMAROPA Region, selected participants from Calapan City, and personnel from the CDA MIMAROPA Extension Office. The program featured a Financial Literacy Seminar that focused on the importance of saving, budgeting, responsible spending, and financial planning. Participants also attended a session on digital financial responsibility, which emphasized online banking safety, avoiding financial scams, and the responsible use of digital financial platforms.

As part of the celebration, the regional winners of the Poster Making Contest were formally recognized. The 1st place winner was Jezer James M. Nobleza from the Laboratory Cooperative of San Vicente Municipal Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Vicente, Palawan, while the 2nd place winner was Aezha Kim S. Alcoran from St. Vincent Ferrer Laboratory Cooperative in Romblon. The TikTok Contest also recognized the sole participant from Kabalikat Para sa Diyos at Bayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KADBAYAN MPC), Romblon, as the official winner. It was also noted that the submission of entries and the contest proper were conducted on March 1, 2026.

The activity concluded with a youth commitment pledge encouraging the participants to become advocates of financial literacy in their respective communities. The successful conduct of the Global Money Week 2026 celebration reflects the continued commitment of the Cooperative Development Authority MIMAROPA Extension Office to empower the youth through financial education and responsible money management.
