As part of the celebration of National Women’s Month 2026, the Cooperative Development Authority MIMAROPA Extension Office successfully conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) on March 17, 2026 at the 3rd Floor, BOCOFAMCO Building, Lalud, Calapan City. The whole-day training was designed not only to raise awareness but also to strengthen the personal and professional development of CDA personnel by promoting a more inclusive, respectful, and gender-responsive workplace.

The activity was facilitated by Dr. Bernadeth P. De Guzman, Associate Professor I from Mindoro State University (MinSU), who guided the participants through a comprehensive discussion on Gender and Development (GAD). The training focused on deepening the understanding of gender concepts such as the difference between sex and gender, gender roles and stereotypes, gender equality, and gender-related issues that may arise in the workplace. More importantly, the discussions encouraged participants to reflect on their own attitudes, behaviors, and everyday interactions in the workplace.
Throughout the sessions, employees actively participated in guided discussions, group activities, and reflection exercises that highlighted the importance of respect, inclusivity, and fairness in the delivery of public service. The training also emphasized the relevance of gender sensitivity in strengthening teamwork, improving communication, and promoting a supportive working environment where every employee feels valued and respected.

The afternoon session focused on the legal and institutional framework supporting gender equality in the Philippines, as well as the role of government agencies in mainstreaming Gender and Development (GAD) programs. Participants were also given the opportunity to identify possible gender-related concerns in the workplace and propose practical actions that can help create a more gender-responsive office environment.

The training concluded with a commitment-setting activity where participants expressed their willingness to apply what they learned in their daily work and to support gender-responsive programs of the agency. The successful conduct of the Gender Sensitivity Training reflects the continued commitment of the Cooperative Development Authority MIMAROPA Extension Office to invest in the professional growth of its personnel while promoting equality, respect, and inclusivity in the workplace.
