Under the leadership of JCINSP Rodolfo L. Versoza, Jr., the BJMP personnel participated in the Post-Registration Orientation, facilitated by Mr. Oliver Getalla, CDS II, and Ms. Gilda Ragay, Senior CDS, of Cooperative Development Authority.

Atty. Emilio D. Escueta III, Regional Director of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) R5, delivered an inspiring message to the attendees, emphasizing the many benefits of establishing their own employee cooperative. He underscored how such an initiative could strengthen unity, enhance financial stability, and foster mutual support among members. Atty. Escueta also highlighted the cooperative’s potential to create valuable growth opportunities, not only for individual members but for the entire BJMP Naga City District Jail community as a whole.

Gibo Nin Paglaom Producers Cooperative is a member-owned, democratically governed organization established within the jail facilities to support productive, income-generating activities. The cooperative consists of BJMP personnel as official members, while persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are engaged as workers or beneficiaries, but not as members. The primary goal of the cooperative is to aid in the rehabilitation of PDLs through meaningful work, skills development, and preparation for their reintegration into society. By offering these opportunities, the cooperative plays a crucial role in the personal growth of PDLs, helping them build a better future upon their release.

Through this initiative, the BJMP Naga City District Jail not only strengthens the bonds among its employees but also contributes to the broader goal of societal reintegration for PDLs. The success of Gibo Nin Paglaom Producers Cooperative sets a positive example of how cooperatives can be powerful tools for both personal and community development. With continued support and dedication, the cooperative has the potential to inspire similar initiatives in other institutions, paving the way for more sustainable and impactful rehabilitation programs.
