The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region VIII conducted a significant orientation workshop focusing on implementing the Framework for Strengthening the Philippine Agricultural Cooperative Ecosystem in anticipation of the Pilot Implementation in the region. This event aimed to equip program implementers to provide cooperatives with the necessary technical assistance, knowledge, and strategies to enhance their agricultural operations and overall cooperative management.

Director Venus M. Jornales, in her opening message, emphasized the critical role that agricultural cooperatives play in the region’s socio-economic development. She highlighted the CDAโ€™s commitment to supporting cooperatives through innovative frameworks and capacity-building initiatives. The CDA Director stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among agricultural cooperatives to ensure sustainability and growth. She emphasized that through this framework, we aim to provide a comprehensive guide to help cooperatives navigate the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Assistant Secretary Luz H. Yringco, provided an in-depth overview of the framework designed to bolster the agricultural cooperative ecosystem. ASEC Yringco presented key elements of the framework, which include: Capacity Building, Access to Resources, Market Linkages, and Sustainable Practices.

ASEC Yringco emphasized the framework’s focus on creating resilient and self-reliant agricultural cooperatives. She further elaborated on the strategic importance of building a strong agricultural cooperative ecosystem. She highlighted the need for strong governance, innovative financial solutions, and comprehensive support systems to address the unique challenges faced by cooperatives. “Our approach is holistic, ensuring that every cooperative has the tools and support it needs to grow sustainably,” she added.

A workshop facilitated by Asec Yringco, engaged participants to develop practical strategies, plans, and programs for the pilot implementation of the framework in the region. The workshop aimed to harness the collective insights and expertise of the participants to formulate actionable steps.

The collaborative efforts during the workshop underscored the participants’ commitment to driving positive change within their cooperatives. ASEC Yringco expressed her confidence in the collective ability of the region’s cooperatives to implement the framework successfully.
