CDA Region VIII Kicks Off Poster-Making Contest for Global Money Week 2026

The Cooperative Development Authority Region VIII Extension Office, through its Credit Surety Fund (CSF) and Cooperative Research, Information, and Training Section (CRITS), successfully conducted a Poster-Making Contest as part of the preparatory activities for the upcoming Global Money Week 2026 held at Lolita Heights Hotel, Tacloban City. The initiative aims to promote financial literacy, responsible money management, and savings consciousness among the youth, particularly members of Laboratory Cooperatives by empowering them to develop sound financial habits and informed decision-making skills at an early age. Through engaging and creative learning activities, CDA continues to nurture financially capable young individuals who can contribute to building resilient communities in the future.

Anchored on this year’s official theme, “Global Money Week: Smart Money Talk,” the activity encouraged young cooperative members to creatively express their understanding of wise financial decision-making through visual art. More than a showcase of artistic talent, the contest served as an educational platform that reinforced essential financial values such as saving, budgeting, goal setting, and responsible spending, key competencies necessary for lifelong financial well-being. A total of four (4) enthusiastic contenders participated in the competition, representing the PHCCI Laboratory Cooperative and the ACDI MPC Junior Savers’ Club. Each participant was given two (2) hours to conceptualize and complete their poster entries, demonstrating creativity, originality, and meaningful interpretation of financial empowerment and cooperative values.

All submitted artworks will undergo a regional pre-selection process to ensure adherence to contest guidelines, thematic relevance, artistic excellence, and clarity of financial messaging. The selected winning entry will officially represent CDA Region VIII in the national-level competition and will be endorsed to the CDA Head Office for final evaluation and selection among entries from different regions nationwide. This process highlights CDA’s commitment to recognizing young talents while ensuring that the region’s best representation effectively conveys the importance of financial literacy and cooperative principles on a national platform.

As CDA Region VIII joins the global celebration of Global Money Week 2026 on March 16-22, 2026, activities like this highlight the Authority’s continued commitment to promoting financial education and cooperative values among the youth. The contest shows that learning about money management can be engaging and meaningful, helping young cooperative members develop responsible financial habits and inspiring them to become active partners in strengthening the cooperative movement in the future.
