On October 9, 2025, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region VIII actively participated in the People’s Caravan: Serbisyong Dala ay Pag-asa, an initiative of the National Housing Authority (NHA) designed to provide comprehensive and accessible services to NHA project beneficiaries by bringing together various government agencies under one venue. The event, held at the Covered Court, Barangay Margen, Ormoc City, highlighted the strong interagency collaboration of 33 participating agencies working in unison to bring government services closer to the people. True to its mission, the CDA joined the event as a steadfast partner agency in promoting social and economic empowerment through cooperatives. To highlight the services of each participating agency, organizers provided booths throughout the event where beneficiaries could directly engage with representatives. At the CDA booth, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed, and inquiries on cooperative registration, organization, compliance, and development were addressed – making it a venue for both learning and support.
The People’s Caravan: Serbisyong Dala ay Pag-asa exemplified the spirit of Bayanihan among government institutions, with agencies working hand in hand to deliver responsive and meaningful services to communities. The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), through its active participation, emphasized the dual importance of ensuring access to government programs and advancing the transformative potential of cooperatives as instruments for socioeconomic progress. By showcasing its core services and directly engaging with beneficiaries, the CDA reinforced the role to promote the viability and growth of cooperatives as instruments of equity, social justice, and economic development. Other participating institutions included DOH, DSWD, TESDA, PSA, SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, DOST, DMW, PNP, AFP, PCSO, DOLE, DA, LTO, NBI, PAO, DHSUD, HSAC, OWWA, DTI, DICT, OLBA, the Rotary Club, the LGU Ormoc, and various local government offices. Collectively, these agencies delivered a wide range of services – from health care, social welfare, and livelihood assistance to housing, employment, and legal assistance – effectively addressing the diverse needs of NHA beneficiaries and underscoring the importance of inter-agency cooperation in providing responsive, inclusive, and people centered services.
Moving forward, the CDA remains committed to collaborating with both national and local partners in creating opportunities for communities to embrace cooperatives as pathways to sustainable livelihood, self-reliance, and collective progress. Through continued engagement in initiatives such as the People’s Caravan, CDA reaffirms its mission of bringing government services closer to the people – nurturing stronger, more resilient, and empowered communities.
