BUILDING COOPERATIVE CAPACITY: TRAINING FOR COCONUT FARMERS MICRO COOPERATIVES IN PAGADIAN CITY

Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – A mandatory training on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives and Governance and Management of Cooperatives was conducted on September 17-18, 2024, at the Guillermo Hotel. This training was specifically designed for five newly registered coconut farmers micro cooperatives under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).

The training aimed to equip the micro cooperatives with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for their successful operation and growth. Topics covered included cooperative principles, governance structures, financial management, and effective leadership. By participating in this training, the micro cooperatives are better positioned to contribute to the economic development of their communities.

The training was facilitated by Raul T. Alcoran, Jr., a Cooperatives Development Specialist II. A total of 70 participants from Sambulawan Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, Guinabot Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, Molave Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, Ditulan Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, and Aurora Coco Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (ACFA) , attended the event.
