The Cooperative Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (CDA-CAR) Extension Office successfully conducted a Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS) for the proposed Bannawag Agriculture Cooperative of San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao on February 11, 2026.

The seminar was attended by twenty-one (21) farmers and prospective members who expressed their commitment to formally organize and register as an agricultural cooperative. The activity was facilitated by personnel from the CDA-CAR Extension Office assigned in the Province of Apayao, in fulfillment of the Authority’s mandate to promote and develop viable and sustainable cooperatives.

During the activity, participants were oriented on the fundamentals of cooperativism, including the cooperative principles and values, rights and responsibilities of members, organizational structure, and capital build-up requirements. The discussion also covered the legal bases and documentary requirements for cooperative registration, as well as compliance standards set by the CDA.
The Pre-Registration Seminar is a mandatory requirement prior to registration, designed to ensure that prospective members clearly understand the nature, purpose, and obligations involved in organizing a cooperative. The session provided an avenue for open discussion, allowing participants to raise concerns and clarify important matters related to governance, financial management, and sustainability.

The conduct of the seminar marks an important milestone toward the formal establishment of the Bannawag Agriculture Cooperative, envisioned to strengthen unity among farmers in San Gregorio and improve their socio-economic opportunities through collective enterprise.
The CDA-CAR Extension Office remains committed to guiding emerging cooperatives in Apayao toward successful registration and long-term institutional sustainability.
