Heeding the call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s thrust on food security and focus on the agriculture sector, the Cooperative Development Authority – Cordillera Administrative Region (CDA-CAR) Extension Office led by OIC Regional Director Felicidad R. Cenon, PhD. signed Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) and Deeds of Donation with various eligible micro and small agriculture cooperatives in the region for the turned-over of nine (9) sets of Digital 2-in-1 Corn and Rice Mill combined with a 10 KVA Generator. This program aims to empower agricultural cooperatives in food security towards inclusive and sustainable growth.
Guided by the CDA Memorandum Circular No. 2024-13 and 2024-18, and the evaluation of the Cooperative Project Development and Assistance Section (CPDAS), the following were the recipients of the Agri-machineries:
- Tamac Multipupose Cooperative (Abra)
- Cassigamman Agriculture Cooperative (Apayao)
- Calayucay Agriculture Cooperative (Apayao)
- Forward Better Imelda Agriculture Cooperative (Apayao)
- Cajoma ARBs Multipupose Cooperative (Apayao)
- One Lamut Agriculture Cooperative (Ifugao)
- Kalinga OFW Multipurpose Cooperative (Kalinga)
- Mabato Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Mountain Province)
- Anonat Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Mountain Province)
Graced by Assistant Secretary Virgilio R. Lazaga, Agriculture Cluster Focal, who also witnessed the MOA signing, the activity presented the importance of agriculture in our economy and those engaged in it are critical drivers in improving food self sufficiency in the country. He mentioned that the assistance from the CDA is geared towards improving the life of all members of the recipient cooperatives and that the Authority and the cooperative sector are critical partners in attaining this goal.
Ms. Johaira Limbao, representing Assistant Secretary Pendatun Disumban, CMPL Cluster Focal, delivered a message emphasizing cooperation and collaboration among and within cooperatives to achieve goals and success.
Closing the activity was CDA-CAR Acting Supervising CDS, Mr. Dickson S. Aycud who emphasized that compliance of cooperatives is important to further strengthen partnerships.
