CDA-NCR Extends Service Excellence Through Handholding Caravan in Parañaque

A clear demonstration of responsive governance and grassroots empowerment was on full display as the Cooperative Development Authority–NCR Extension Office (CDA-NCREO), under the leadership of Regional Director Pedro T. Defensor Jr., successfully conducted its Handholding Caravan on April 14, 2026, at Max’s Restaurant – Dr. A. Santos Branch, Parañaque City.

The initiative brought government services closer to cooperatives, reinforcing CDA’s mandate to ensure regulatory compliance while strengthening the operational capacity of the sector. The event was not merely administrative—it was transformative. A total of 50 Certificates of Compliance (COC) were successfully processed and issued, marking a significant step in enabling cooperatives to continue operating with legitimacy and confidence.

This activity was made possible through strong institutional partnerships. CDA-NCREO joined forces with ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, the Parañaque City Cooperative Development Office led by its Department Head, Ms. Josie Salomon, the Parañaque Cooperative Development Council, the Parañaque Federation of Cooperatives, the Unified Marketing and Services Cooperative of Parañaque Fishermans Wharf, the Parañaque City Credit Surety Fund Cooperative, and the Parañaque City Union of Cooperatives.

The collaboration underscored a vital truth in public service and cooperative development: “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” Each organization played a critical role in mobilizing participants, facilitating coordination, and ensuring the smooth execution of the caravan.

More than compliance, the event served as a platform for dialogue, guidance, and renewed commitment among cooperative leaders and stakeholders. It reflected a shared vision of building resilient, transparent, and member-driven institutions that contribute meaningfully to local economic development.

CDA-NCREO extends its gratitude to the Local Government of Parañaque City for its unwavering support in advancing cooperative initiatives. The active participation and cooperation of the various cooperatives in Parañaque City were equally instrumental in the success of the activity.

As the cooperative movement continues to evolve amid emerging challenges, initiatives like the Handholding Caravan reaffirm that government and community can move forward together—grounded in service, strengthened by partnership, and driven by a common purpose.
