PHIL E-COMMERCE TRUSTMARK ONLINE SEMINAR

PHIL E-COMMERCE TRUSTMARK ONLINE SEMINAR

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is advocating for the establishment of the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, aimed at providing assurance of safety and security in online transactions. This aligns with Republic Act No. 11967 or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023. Consequently, an online seminar was held on February 10, 2026 with nearly a hundred participants, to enlighten cooperatives about this digital badge issued by DTI. This badge can be used in websites, social media and even in physical stores, ensuring its platform-neutrality. Its primary objective is to build trust between businesses and consumers in online transactions and to promote responsible online selling.

Mr. Paulo V. Estrada, Division Chief of the Strategic Communication and Partnership Divison of DTI – E-Commerce Bureau, gave an overview of the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark. He said that cooperatives, or even their members who operate their own businesses, can apply for the Trustmark which will support their business legitimacy and credibility to their customers. Obtaining this badge also makes them eligible to participate in DTI-led trade fairs and recognition programs. Next, Ms. Cherry Dan Morales, Information Technology Officer I from the Business Information Division under the E-Commerce of DTI, presented a step-by-step procedure for the online application process. She also discussed the documents needed and the fees involved. Then she emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Trustmark logo is prominently displayed in its official color and that the QR code should not be deformed. This QR code, along with a unique security number, is specific to each Trustmark badge, enabling consumers to scan or verify it through the DTI Trustmark verification website.
