CSF ROADSHOW IN ABRA OPENS OPPORTUNITIES FOR MSMEs TOWARDS FINANCIAL INCLUSION

In a move to enjoin more cooperatives to support the credit surety fund (CSF) program to the farthest provinces and municipalities, the CDA together with its partner implementor the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) conducted the Contributors Orientation Seminar and roadshow in Bangued, Abra on October 29, 2025. The event, organized by the Provincial Cooperative Development Office led by OIC Jesusa Feir was attended by close to 100 officers and members of various cooperatives across Abra held at the Capitol Atrium, Provincial Capitol, Abra province.

Leading the team in the activity were Deputy Administrator for CSF Atty. Elizabeth O. Batonan and BSP’s Ms. Eva Lynne Marcos, Area Director, North Luzon Regional Office, who both expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support of the local government unit of Abra to the program.

Present on the occasion were Provincial Administrator Atty. Brynn Mina who delivered Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin’s message that “through the program, we empower the people to grow” and likewise congratulated all stakeholders of the CSF for the partnership and commitment. Board Member Dr. Patrocinio Abaya, representing Vice Governor Anne Bersamin, expressed support to the program as “it embodies our shared goal and community-driven progress” with a fervent hope that “may it serve as a step toward stronger cooperation and shared progress.”

Also present was Mr. Richard Refuerzo, Account Officer, Ilocos Sur Lending Center of the Land Bank of the Philippines, who presented the bank’s special lending programs that include the CSF. The orientation highlighted the CSF concepts, process in organizing and registering a CSF Cooperative, relevant CSF statistics, registration requirements and CDA’s current initiatives facilitated jointly by the BSP and CDA’s Technical Assistance Division and Inspection Examination Division of the CSF Service, Head Office.

The activity ended with the Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative’s (ADTEMPCO) pledge of Php1 million as its contribution and three (3) other primary cooperatives signifying their intention to join the proposed Abra CSF Cooperative.
