Bangkok, Thailand – A week-long Trainers Training: Leadership Bootcamp Series 2 – Empowering Leadership Through Effective Communication was successfully conducted by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) during the last week of January 2026.
The program gathered thirty-five (35) leaders and trainers representing Indonesian and Philippine cooperatives, the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), and officials and personnel from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Anchored on John C. Maxwell’s 16 Undeniable Laws of Communication, the bootcamp went beyond traditional lecture-based training. It was a dynamic and immersive learning experience—featuring workshops, group discussions, reflection sessions, and actual speech and presentation delivery—designed to transform communication from a skill into a leadership discipline.
Communication as Influence, Not Information
At the heart of the training was a powerful shift in mindset: communication is not merely the transfer of information—it is the intentional act of influence.
For the CDA and cooperative leaders, this insight is crucial. In mission-driven organizations such as the CDA and cooperatives, leaders must communicate not only policies and programs—but purpose, trust, and shared ownership.

The bootcamp reinforced that influence is earned through authenticity, empathy, and consistency. A leader who communicates with clarity but lacks credibility will not inspire trust. A leader who speaks with passion but without preparation will not sustain impact.
CDA’s Five Focus Areas Through the Lens of the 16 Laws
The CDA identified five (5) focus areas for cascading the training learnings:
1. Influencing organizational shifting through effective communication
2. Building trust and confidence in CDA as development partners
3. Fostering stronger team and member relationships
4. Communicating member-focused leadership in cooperatives
5. Youth engagement in cooperatives

Moving Forward: From Training to Transformation
The Leadership Bootcamp was not merely an event—it was a catalyst. The re-entry plans of the participants will determine the sustainability of the learning.
As Maxwell teaches, communication is not about impressing people; it is about the impact it makes.
For the CDA and the cooperative sector, this means:
● Speaking with clarity
● Leading with integrity
● Connecting with purpose
● Influencing with heart
By embedding the 16 Laws of Communication into everyday leadership practice, the CDA and the cooperatives can move from compliance-driven communication to influence-driven leadership—creating not just better messages, but better leaders.
In doing so, the CDA and the cooperative sector strengthen not only their voice, but their vision.
