CDA Region X Extension Office celebrates the 34th CDA Anniversary & Women’s Month through Larong Pinoy Sportsfest and GEDSI Orientation

The celebration of the CDA’s 34th Anniversary and Women’s Month in Region 10 was observed  through the Larong Pinoy Sportsfest and the orientation on Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion (GEDSI) in the Workplace. This was on March 8, 2024, in Opol, Misamis Oriental. It was a remarkable event which fostered team spirit, inclusivity, and understanding among the personnel of CDA Region X on basic concepts of GEDSI.

The Larong Pinoy included Patintero, DodgeBall, and the variation of Palo Sebo called Palo Itlog, provided an avenue for personnel to relive fun memories while promoting values such as discipline, teamwork, excellence, and fair play. Team A’s victory in most of the games showcased the competitive yet amicable nature of the event, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The subsequent team-building games further strengthened bonds among the personnel, enabling them to understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and interests. This understanding is vital for fostering a positive work culture where every individual feels valued and can contribute their best.

Moreover, the commemoration of International Women’s Day during Women’s Month served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need to address issues such as reproductive rights and violence against women. The historical context provided by Supervising CDS, Marissa B. Catubig, underscored the significance of this day in advancing the rights of women globally.

Ms. Mary Grace D. Vapor, GAD focal person, highlighted the importance of gender responsiveness, workplace inclusivity, and diversity during the orientation on GEDSI in the workplace. By addressing specific barriers and norms related to gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, indigenous peoples, and ethnic minorities, the personnel were reminded of their role in creating an environment where everyone feels respected and valued.

Overall, the event was not only a celebration but also a meaningful opportunity for learning, reflection, and growth, promoting a workplace culture grounded on equity, understanding, and solidarity.
