To ensure that coconut farmers’ cooperatives are effectively implementing initiatives under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 10 conducted a capability building and monitoring workshop in Camiguin on May 15–16, 2025. This effort marked a significant milestone in the rollout of the CFIDP Monitoring Tool, designed to evaluate cooperative performance, track project outcomes and strengthen compliance with CFIDP objectives.
The activity focused on three key locations in Camiguin—Catarman, Mambajao, and Mahinog—where around 25 cooperatives & associations actively participated in the assessment sessions. Led by CPDAS Head Edwin B. Pelosas, the CDA team oriented the cooperatives and applied the monitoring tool through field-based evaluation, with Cooperative Development Specialists (CDSs) deployed in teams to each municipality.
Participating cooperatives expressed that the tool provided a structured and objective basis for understanding their progress in implementing CFIDP programs. It helped them identify areas needing improvement and realign their initiatives to meet the goals of sustainable coconut industry development.
The monitoring tool not only promoted transparency and accountability, but also opened space for meaningful dialogue between cooperatives officers and CDA field specialists. It highlighted the importance of data-driven planning and program evaluation in improving service delivery to coconut farmers especially those in geographically isolated or disadvantaged areas.
This ongoing monitoring activity reinforces CDA Region 10’s commitment to empowering coconut farmers through effective program oversight and participatory evaluation under the CFIDP framework.
