A Consultative Meeting (Public Utilities Cluster) took place at Grand Caprice, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City on February 16, 2024. The activity was attended by the cooperatives from Region 9, Region 10, and the CARAGA region. 

Asec. Myrla B. Paradillo, CDA Board Member III and Oversight Head of the Public Utilities Cluster, spearheaded the discussion on the different concerns of the transport service cooperatives since the inception of the PUV Modernization Program of the government. Among the common issues of the sector are franchising, the availability of financing, and the Local Public Transport Route Plan, or LPTRP. Asec Paradillo stressed that the role of CDA is primarily in the registration of transport service cooperatives. Nevertheless, the CDA shall continue to provide technical assistance, training, and legal services. Furthermore, cooperatives may also opt to merge or consolidate with other cooperatives to avail of financial assistance.

The CDA Regional Directors from Region 9, CARAGA, and Region 10 were also present during the said meeting and gave their words of wisdom to the issues at hand.

In conclusion, this activity proved productive to the concerns of the public utilities sector through the continued technical assistance provided by the CDA to our transport service cooperatives.
