The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 10 recently concluded the first batch of the Certification Program for Cooperative Development Officers (CDOs). The 8-day intensive training of trainers was held from June 25-28, 2024, and July 9-12, 2024, at Carmela Hall, Tiquiano’s Beach Resort in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.
The primary goal of the Certification Program is to empower appointed and designated Cooperative Development Officers (CDOs) with comprehensive knowledge and skills of the Basic Cooperative Course. These officers, mandated to oversee cooperative development in their respective jurisdictions, will find the program instrumental in enhancing their capacities and skills.
Under this program, all CDOs are required to complete the Basic Cooperative Course and Training Methodology to be authorized to conduct Mandatory Trainings (Fundamentals of Cooperatives and Governance and Management of Cooperatives) and Pre-Membership Education Seminars (PMES) for cooperatives. Upon successful completion of the course, participants received a Certificate of Completion from the Authority. This certificate serves as the basis for issuing a Certificate of Authority, permitting the CDOs to conduct the specified trainings within their jurisdictions.
By the end of the training module, the Cooperative Development Officers (CDOs) performed teaching demonstrations to assess their readiness to conduct their own trainings. A total of fifteen (15) Cooperative Development Officers from Misamis Oriental completed the Certification Program namely: Amee S. Bagares (Initao); Pat F. Dumaloan (Claveria); Norma B. Carcido (Gingoog City); Christian Bonn L. Gonzales (Talisayan); Claire Murriel V. Lucman (Lugait); Mariz B. Florendo (El Salvador City); Irenea Liza R. Roque (Balingasag); Jeryl S. Abellanosa (Gitagum); Juliet T. Balagot (Medina); June Clyde D. Patilano (Manticao); Krisyl Kay B. Apdian (Alubijid); Liezl V. Bahian (Laguindingan); Rochelle C. Paroa (Naawan); Gretchen G. Raiz (Tagoloan) and Mailyn C. Quiblat (Opol). The program successfully met its objectives and participants’ expectations, receiving positive feedback from all involved.
The 8-day activity was sponsored mainly by the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental thru the Provincial Cooperative Office and was made possible by the full support of the Local Chief Executives of the participating Local Government Units. This achievement marks a significant step forward in strengthening the cooperative movement in the region, ensuring that CDOs are well-equipped to promote and sustain cooperative development effectively.
