The month long celebration of the 2022 Cooperative Month has finally come to an end. As the annual celebration for all cooperatives happen during the month of October, this year has been filled with so much excitement and vigor that culminating activities even extended until the first week of November.
As health restrictions eased after more than two years of pandemic, a great number of local government units and cooperative development councils eagerly conducted different kinds of programs and activities all throughout the month. Among those events included blood- letting, mangrove and tree planting, feeding, medical mission, summits, dialogue, fora, fun run, sports activities and many more.
Among the numerous culmination programs held all over the region, was the Awarding Ceremony and Coronation of the Mr. and Ms. Cooperative R10 2022 at the Xavier University Gymnasium, Cagayan de Oro City, which was organized by the Regional Cooperative Development Council -10 (RCDC-10), and supported by the City Cooperative Development Council of Cagayan de Oro. The Provincial Government and the Provincial Cooperative Development Councils (PCDC) of the provinces of Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte also celebrated their culmination day on October 28, 2022 and November 3, 2022 respectively. Likewise, on October 31, 2022, both the Local Government of Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte in coordination with its City Cooperative Development Councils (CCDC) joined in the celebrations filled with fun and camaraderie.
Moreover, cooperative members of 3 component cities (Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador) and 14 municipalities (Lala, Kitaotao, Manolo Fortich, Baungon, Talakag, Kinoguitan, Villanueva, Binuangan, Jasaan, Opol, Claveria, Alubijid, Laguindingan, Medina) spearheaded by their Local Government Units and Cooperative Development Councils, happily gathered for the celebration and made the cooperative month a sort of reunion and get together activity after the two -year hiatus.
This year, the cooperatives of Region 10 have really shown unity, resiliency, passion and advocacy in the promotion of the values and principles of cooperatives through the different activities and programs. The cooperative month may end for now, but the spirit of cooperativism truly lives on.
