Fifteen cooperatives from the region attended a webinar conducted by the CDA Region X Extension Office entitled Business Continuity Management (BCM) for Cooperatives on November 27, 2024 via the Zoom platform. This activity was joined by seventy-eight (78) participants from all types and categories of cooperatives.
The first resource speaker, Ms. Juhna Balundo discussed BCM as a holistic process designed to identify potential threats to an organization and the impacts on business operations. BCM provides a framework for building organizational resilience, ensuring an effective response to protect the interests of key stakeholders, reputation, brand, and the community.
The BCM toolkit was then discussed by Mr. Mark Ga which involves the identification of potential threats to an organization and the development of strategies to ensure that critical business functions continue during and after a disruption. For cooperatives, which often operate with limited resources, the ability to swiftly recover from disruptions is crucial. Whether it’s a natural disaster, a sudden market shift, or a global pandemic, cooperatives must be prepared to navigate these challenges without jeopardizing their operations or member welfare.
Truly, this is a remarkable moment for cooperatives in Region 10 to enhance their resilience through robust Business Continuity Management (BCM). By prioritizing risk management, strategic planning, and community collaboration, cooperatives in Region 10 can navigate future uncertainties with confidence and continue to deliver value to their members.
