A signature of commitment marked the success of the Mindanao Meet and Forum for the establishment of a National Union of Cooperatives (NUC)

March 19-20, 2024, the Technical Working Group for the National Union of Cooperatives (NUC), in cooperation and coordination with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Sectoral Apex Organization (SAO) – Education, Advocacy, and Union Cooperatives Cluster, conducted the face-to-face consultation with the Mindanao Union and Federation of Cooperatives at SotoGrande Hotel, Davao City.

The purpose of the consultation is to discuss the importance of establishing a National Union of Cooperatives (NUC) in revitalizing and strengthening Cooperative Unions across the country as well as gather inputs and comments from the sector regarding the proposed organization and registration of a National Union of Cooperatives.

A presentation of the current state of the of the cooperatives in the Philippines and the need to establish the NUC was discussed thoroughly. With all the exchange of ideas, difference in views and opinions the love for serving its clientele and the spirit of cooperativism prevailed.

They have set out the next steps to ensure the smooth development and implementation of the NUC, which will provide a greater voice and opportunity for cooperatives at the national level.
