NCC-CD Sub-Committee on Agri, Industrialization convenes for Agricultural Development and Growth

The National Coordinating Committee on Cooperative Development (NCC-CD) Sub-Committee on Agriculture and Industrialization convened on July 10, 2025 at the CDA Head Office in Cubao, Quezon City. The primary objective of the activity is to collectively affirm the whole-of-nation approach as crucial for achieving agricultural development and growth.

The presiding officer, CDA Board Member III, ASec. Myrla B. Paradillo, facilitated the sub-committee meeting with 16 invited national government agencies, government financial institutions, government-owned corporations, public bureaus and instrumentalities that shared their valuable contributions and commitment to this important initiative.

At the heart of the discussion is the “Framework on Strengthening the Philippine Agricultural Cooperatives Ecosystem” developed and nurtured by the CDA to address challenges, securing stakeholder commitments, and establishing a roadmap for future initiatives for the said sector. The call for this initiative is in line with the clear directive from H.E. Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.  to reinforce the necessity for the Agency and key players in the agricultural sector to manifest and implement its unwavering commitment in strengthening cooperatives as the backbone of an inclusive, self-sufficient, and globally competitive agriculture sector through its consultative mechanisms like the NCC-CD.

To give the sector a voice in the Committee, the CDA through its Cooperative Project and Development Assistance Division (CPDAD), likewise presented the consolidated information of relevant needs, concerns, and areas for collaboration, raised during the “Consultation of Cooperatives’ Concerns” facilitated last June 24 2025 with cooperatives having agricultural activities. At the same time, the activity targeted to extend support to the cooperative of Former Rebels, Indigenous Peoples, and communities located in conflict-affected and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, as crucial steps in fulfilling the government’s commitment to these communities for promising impact.  All of the member-agencies present in the meeting are in synchronous in expressing their support for the significant implementation of this vital well-coordinated public sector approach.

The Meeting ended with an expression of gratitude from the CDA for the unwavering support of all the concerned national government agencies in bringing a better playing field for agricultural cooperatives in the country.
