PERA Multipurpose Cooperative from the Municipality of San Francisco in Agusan del Sur showcased their utmost concern for the community by mobilizing their resources and coordinating with the CDA Caraga Regional Office in providing assistance to the families affected by Typhoon Ulysses. The cooperative donated One Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 100,000.00) for the affected families in Region 2 and Region 5.
The cooperative is also very active in lending a helping hand to the Indigenous Peoples of Bukidnon and one of the beneficiary of this generosity and kindness of the coop is the Banowaon-Manobo-Talaandig Tribe (BANAWA) from Agusan de Sur where they signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and adopted seven (7) families from the IP community.
Under the MOA, the IP families were provided with Fifty Thousand Pesos (Php 50,000.00) as livelihood assistance which was used by the IPs as capital for the production of corn and other crops. In return, these families were tasked to protect the flora and fauna surrounding their ancestral domain.
PERA MPC also showed compassion and heeded to the call of helping the IP community from Quezon, Bukidnon by allocating One Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 100,000.00) for the Kiantig-Manobo-Pulangiyon Tribe to be used for their capital build-up as they organize themselves into a cooperative. The coop will also provide humanitarian assistance to the IP community courtesy of the coop and the funds pooled by their employees for the families.
These actions of the co-op only show that the spirit of compassion shines through among all the cooperatives across the country and adheres to the 7th Cooperative principle which is the Concern for the Community. Kudos to PERA MPC! (ECA OC)
