The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the National Union of Cooperatives (NUC) have formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that signals a robust partnership in support of the upcoming National Union of Cooperatives Summit and the broader advancement of the cooperative movement in the Philippines.

Held at the CDA Boardroom, the event gathered key officials from both institutions, including USEC. Alexander B. Raquepo, Chairperson of CDA, and Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual, Chairperson of NUC, who both affixed their signatures to the agreement.

Graced by key leaders from both organizations, marking a milestone in the shared commitment to advance cooperative development, particularly through strong union systems and collaborative programs.

The program opened with an invocation and acknowledgement of guests, followed by an inspiring welcome message from Assistant Secretary Abdulsalam A. Guinomla, Head of the Education, Advocacy, and Union of Cooperatives Cluster. He emphasized the importance of nurturing partnerships and aligning strategies that empower cooperatives at all levels.

Two powerful solidarity messages were delivered during the event. Fr. Anton CT Pascual, underscored the role of union systems in achieving socio-economic transformation. He called on all cooperatives to rally behind a unified vision for inclusive progress.

USEC. Alexander B. Raquepo, lauded the NUC for its continued efforts in organizing cooperatives nationwide and recognized the MOA as a concrete step toward institutional support.

The MOA outlines the roles, responsibilities, and boundaries of both parties in organizing the upcoming National Union Summit, envisioned as a gathering of cooperatives nationwide to discuss pressing sectoral issues, promote knowledge-sharing, and plan forward-looking actions for cooperative development.

In his closing message, ASEC. Santiago S. Lim, Administrator of the CDA, expressed optimism that the MOA would pave the way for long-term programs that benefit not only cooperatives but the communities they serve.
