Business Continuity Planning for a Stronger and Brighter tomorrow

The month of October was declared as the National Cooperative Month through Republic Act (RA) 11502. This year’s theme, “Cooperatives: Stronger Together Today for a Brighter tomorrow” is very timely and relevant as the Cooperative Development Authority Region 1 Extension Office thru its Ilocos Norte Field Office conducted Business Continuity Planning Workshop in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform – Ilocos Norte Provincial Office on October 9-10, 2024.

A total of 40 cooperative officers composing Eight (8) ARB Cooperatives benefitted from the 2-day workshop. As the participants actively participated in the training, they were able to prepare and present their Business Continuity Plan which was also critiqued and suggestions were made especially that they present the same when going back to their respective offices. They were given techniques in planning restructure their business activities and developing a plan to cushion the impact of unexpected disruptions and disasters.

The Department of Agrarian Reform is eyeing another batch of ARBs to participate in the said training as they have seen the importance of having such process that they can activate during disruptions.

The Training was also graced by the PARPO II of DAR Ilocos Norte, Engr. Vic M. Ines,  while CDA Ilocos Norte personnel, Ms. Rosievic Medina and Mr. Richard Gacisan, served as the resource speakers.

Business Continuity Planning Workshop is a proactive business process and let the cooperatives continue to serve customers during a disruption and minimize the likelihood of customers going to competitors.

Expect the best, plan for the worst and prepared to be surprised” are the key insights emphasized during the workshop. (Richard T. Gacisan)
