The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 1 participated in the 38th National Coconut Week Celebration held in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. On the second day of the 3-day celebration, CDA R1 represented by its Cooperatives Development Specialist II, Mr. Richard T. Gacisan, presented the office’s accomplishment under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan showcasing its efforts in strengthening the coconut industry such as capacity building initiatives, market assistance and development and support mechanisms.
The activity in Pagudpud clusters the Philippine Coconut Authority Regions 1, II, and CAR led by its Regional Manager, Mr. Mark Roy Q. Macanlalay. The 3-day event was packed with series of events including product display/Trade Fair, Skills and livelihood development training and a tree planting activity. With the theme, “Paghubog sa Pilipinong Magninyog, Daan sa Pag-angat ng Ekonomiya at maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas” the event served as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and celebrating the significant role of coconuts in the Philippine economy.
Various partners and implementing government agencies: Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), PHILMECH and Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), also joined the annual celebration and likewise presented their Projects, Programs and Accomplishments (PPAs) under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan/
The CDA’s involvement underscored its commitment to empowering coconut farmers through cooperative development, aligning with the broader goals of the National Coconut week to promote innovation, collaboration and growth within the industry. ## (Richard T. Gacisan, CDS II)
