The Credit Surety Fund Section of the CDA Region 1 Extension Office, in collaboration with the Credit Surety Fund Services-CDA Head Office, successfully conducted a virtual orientation on the Financial Services Consumers’ Protection Act (RA 11765) on July 12, 2024.
The event aimed to bolster consumer protection by providing in-depth knowledge about the law’s provisions, rights, and responsibilities. With a focus on fair market conduct, consumer education, and dispute resolution, the orientation equipped participants with essential tools to navigate the financial landscape.
Over 75 financial service providers and consumers attended the online session, gaining valuable insights from Mr. Rodrigo I. Rebello, Jr., a resource speaker from the Inspection and Examination Division of CSF Services. Rebello’s expertise provided a comprehensive understanding of the act’s implications.
Ms. Christine Joy P. Combes, Cooperatives Development Specialist II, skillfully hosted the event. A subsequent open forum, moderated by Mr. Rebello with the support of Ms. Jo Ann C. Gamboa, Division Chief of IED-CSF Services, facilitated a robust discussion on participants’ questions and concerns.
By empowering both financial service providers and consumers, the orientation underscores CDA’s commitment to a fair and transparent financial market. This initiative is expected to contribute to a more informed and protected cooperative. (Renee Faye Carino, Sr. CDS)
