The Rising Sun Credit Cooperative has been selected as the beneficiary cooperative of Bagnos Multipurpose Cooperative (Big Brother Cooperative) at the end of 2021, marking a significant milestone in its development. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between them was signed on September 17, 2021, and will get continuing assistance for their sustainability, growth, and development.
This initiative stems from the invaluable support and guidance provided by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in partnership with Bagnos MPC, facilitating a collaborative environment aimed at fostering growth and sustainability within the cooperative. The Koop Kapatid Program has been instrumental in empowering The Rising Sun Credit Cooperative to establish itself as a small brother cooperative, demonstrating the power of collaboration and mentorship in driving the progress of cooperative organizations.
The Partner Cooperative sponsored a capacity-building program to the Rising Sun Credit Cooperative. Employees from Bagnos MPC gave them advice and aid in becoming a successful cooperative. Various activities were carried out, including the following: benchmarking exercise; financial transaction recording and analysis, planning, and effective cooperative governance and management; and management and employees businesses, such as meat processing, grocery, and rice processing. Hence, with the capacity building assistance given by the partner cooperative, the beneficiary cooperative now has sufficient understanding in recording, analyzing, planning, and conducting PMES.
“The presence of challenges in one’s life often requires working with others or, at the very least, drawing support from others to come through them,” said Ms. Milagros Felipe, Chairman of the Rising Sun Credit Cooperative.
