The La Union Credit Surety Fund Cooperative (LUCSFC) is poised for significant expansion following a strategic planning workshop held on August 6, 2024. The event, organized by the Cooperative Development Authority Region 1 Extension Office (CDAR1EO) in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), brought together 35 representatives from LUCSFC member-cooperatives to enhance the cooperative’s viability and sustainability.
Ms. Eleanor D. Ramos, Manager of BSP’s Financial Inclusion Office, served as the workshop’s resource speaker, while Mr. Homer A. Hipona, Bank Officer IV of the same office, facilitated the proceedings. Atty. Frederick Joe N. Robles provided inspiring remarks to the participants.
Building on its existing framework, the workshop helped LUCSFC solidify its strategic direction, setting the stage for a comprehensive growth plan to be finalized in an upcoming meeting.
The successful collaboration between CDA Region 1, BSP, and LUCSFC highlights a shared commitment to empowering cooperatives and strengthening the local economy.
Following the workshop, LUCSFC met with Governor Raphaelle Veronica ‘Rafy’ Ortega-David of La Union Province. The governor expressed enthusiasm for the cooperative’s goals and pledged support by providing office space for LUCSFC operations and allocating funds for operational expenses. Governor Ortega-David also agreed to appoint a representative to liaise with the cooperative.
With this strong foundation and government support, LUCSFC is well-positioned to contribute significantly to La Union’s economic development.
