Orientation on Financial Consumer Protection Act

To empower cooperatives compliance with RA 11765 and to protect the members interest by promoting transparency, fairness and accountability to cooperatives offering financial services, the Cooperative Development Authority in partnership with the Ilocos Norte Union Cooperative conducted an  orientation on Financial Consumer Protection Act (RA 11765) cum Workshop on Gap Analysis and Board-Approved Action Plan at the Conference Hall, Center for Flexible Learning, MMSU Batac Campus on June 24, 2025.

 

 

The orientation on RA 11565 cum Workshop on Gap Analysis and board-approved action plan is vital for the officers of cooperatives offering financial services for them to understand the law’s requirements and its implications; to develop action plans to address gaps; to develop board-action plan that ensures commitment and accountability; and to ensure cooperatives compliance to regulatory standards in order to reduce risks and penalties.

 

 

The Financial Consumer Protection Act (RA 11765) was discussed by Senior CDS of the Credit Surety Fund Section Mr. Sherwin M. Arcipe and the workshop on Gap Analysis and Board-Approved Action Plan was discussed/facilitated by CDS II Ms. Rocelyn Banayat.

CDSs from the CDA Ilocos Norte Field Office Rosievic Medina and Richard Gacisan were also present and assist in the conduct of the said activity.

The conduct of said activity proves commitment of the authority to support cooperatives and promotes a responsible and sustainable cooperatives offering financial services.

The activity was indeed a success. It was attended by 157 officers of 49 cooperatives from the Province of Ilocos Norte. (R. R. Medina, CDS II)
