The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) R1, in coordination with LGUs and Field CDS in the area, conducted a release of financial assistance on January 9, 2024 at Bayambang and Aguilar, Pangasinan and Luna, La Union on January 10, 2024.
The success of the activity was facilitated by CPDAS headed by Ms. Jacqueline L. De Leon, Sr. CDS through her CDS II Ms. Arlenne C. Espinoza with CDS II’s Constancia A. De Guzman, Sheryl Lou M. Fabia and Maricel G. Ruedas. The event, graced by CDA R1 Assistant Regional Director Edilberto G. Unson and Atty. Katherine F. Ellorin, Attorney III, emphasized CDA’s commitment to assisting and enhancing affected communities, particularly cooperatives in the region.
The CDA provided assistance to four (4) cooperatives for the Region’s first batch of beneficiaries, namely:
- Jungle Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative – Aguilar, Pangasinan;
- Rancheros de Balon Bayambang Agriculture Cooperative – Bayambang, Pangasinan;
- Oaqui 4 Multi Purpose Cooperative – Luna, La Union; and
- Oaqui 2 Multi Putrpose Cooperative – Luna, La Union
These cooperatives were struck by typhoons, which flooded their stores and crops, causing significant damage to the commodities/products sold and managed by them. Officers of each cooperative felt incredibly honored to be chosen as recipients of this financial assistance and promised to follow the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement.
This assistance is now directed toward cooperative movement, as we continue to support the government’s relief efforts and stand in solidarity with the cooperatives in the region. (JV Ferrer)
