Banaybanay Cooperative Settles Dispute through CDA Dialogue

Davao City- “Daghang Salamat sa CDA!” These were the words uttered by the parties during the successful CDA dialogue proceeding in the Municipality of Banaybanay, Province of Davao Oriental on February 4, 2025 at the LIGA Building.

Maria Nova, not her real name, an employee and member of a cooperative filed a dialogue request form before the CDA Region XI -Extension Office Legal Unit for a complaint against the management of her cooperative for alleged violation of cooperative laws for appointment of family members, unauthorized use of BIR receipts and abuse of authority, among others. 

However, during the dialogue, all these allegations were clarified through documents and admissions that were presented by both parties to reach a compromised agreement through the initiative of Ms. Marialyn Bagayas Gesta, RN, the Municipal Cooperative Development Officer of the local government unit of the Municipality of Banaybanay. 

The Dialogue facilitator was Atty. Earl D.F. Larroder, the legal officer of CDA Region XI -Extension Office Legal Unit who was accompanied by the Dialogue Secretariat, Mr. Paul Ryan R. Simbajon, Cooperative Development Specialist II.

Last year, two back-to-back multimillion settlement agreements were also facilitated by the CDA Region XI -Extension Office Legal Unit in the same municipality. 

After the successful compromise agreement, the CDA Region XI -Extension Office Legal Unit paid a courtesy call before Mayor Lemuel Ian M. Larcia of the Municipality of Banaybanay, Province of Davao Oriental through the Municipal Administrator, Dr. Nemesia M. Andoy. ###
