DAVAO CITY- The Cooperative Development Authority Region 11 Extension Office through its Legal Unit once again was able to secure a successful multi-million settlement agreement involving an intra-cooperative dispute that affects several international grants and projects in the Province of Davao del Norte.
Through an invitation form the Provincial Administrator’s Office of the Province of Davao Del Norte, the CDA Legal Unit was able to broker a successful settlement agreement between the officers of a cooperative in the said province through its dialogue proceedings in the exercise of its quasi-judicial powers.
Though at first it seemed that the said dispute would lead to a prolonged litigation, but through the mediation process of the CDA Omnibus Rules of Procedures, all parties agreed to a peaceful reopening of their cooperative services and return to a status quo ante operations.
The dialogue proceeding under the CDA is a process where the CDA Dialogue Facilitator forges the power to recommend and assist the parties to isolate issues and options to reach an amicable settlement by consensus that jointly satisfies the parties.
The signing of the successful settlement agreement was held at the CDA Hearing Room on April 22, 2024.
This is the second successful multi-million cooperative settlement agreement facilitated by the CDA Davao Legal Unit.
