DAVAO CITY – On 01 May 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft Für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GMBH of the Federal Republic of Germany. GIZ is a German government agency that provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education.
During the signing of the MOU, CDA was represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Undersecretary Joseph B. Encabo and GIZ was represented by their Principal Advisor Mr. Peter Hinn.
Also present during the signing was CDA Regional Office XI Director Glenn S. Garcia, who served as witness to the signing for the part of CDA and CPDAS Senior CDS Doreen R. Catayoc, in her capacity as focal person for the project implementation in Region XI.
The MOU is for the cooperation between GIZ and CDA to share best practices, formulation of training designs, and conduct for the development of cooperatives.
The objective of the MOU is aimed at outlining a framework of cooperation among CDA and GIZ for the possible implementation of capacity building and empowerment of cooperatives. Both parties shall also endeavor to work together to assess and strengthen the organizational development of CDA.
The scope of the program shall be implemented in five regions in Mindanao, i.e., Regions IX,X, XI, XII, and CARAGA. /JED HARVEY VERTUCIO, CDS II
