DAVAO CITY – Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Regional Office XI Director Glenn S. Garcia conferred upon the first batch of 24 Cooperative Development Officers (CDO) from the different municipalities, cities, and provinces of the Davao Region, their Certificate of Completion upon having passed the CDA Certification Program for CDOs.

On 27-30 August and 03-06 September 2024, the CDA pool of trainers from the Developmental arm of the authority conducted an eight-day certification program for CDOs. This took place at Park-Inn by Radisson Hotel and Hotel Tropika at Lanang, Davao City.

CDA Memorandum Circular No. 2023-12 which provides for the operational guidelines served as legal basis on the implementation of the CDA Certification Program for CDOs. Having able to complete the eight-day certification course, CDOs are already eligible to apply for authority to conduct mandatory trainings to cooperatives, especially to its officers within their area of jurisdiction or Local Government Units (LGU). This mechanism to certify the CDOs brings much efficiency in training cooperative officers thus, their prompt submission of annual mandatory reports to the authority.

The success of the first batch of the certification program is greatly attributed to the partnership between CDA Regional Office XI and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

CDA sincerely thanks GIZ for the partnership and logistical support they provided the CDOs and CDA to successfully conduct the certification program and their significant contribution to the cooperative sector in Mindanao.
