DAVAO DE ORO GOVERNOR SUPPORTS THE CREATION OF PCDO

DAVAO CITY- During the courtesy call of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Legal Unit to the Provincial Capitol of Davao De Oro on December 5, 2023, Governor Dorothy Montejo Gonzaga manifested her support for the creation of a Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) in Davao De Oro.

During the said courtesy call which coincidentally was also held during the meeting of the Regional Cooperative Development Council, the Governor was informed that there was still no PCDO in the said province, which if created would greatly help improve the support mechanism of the existing cooperatives in the said province, among others. Hence, as part of her commitment for the growth of cooperatives in her province, she immediately manifested her support for the creation of the PCDO and allocating funds thereof, once available.

Present during the meeting were Atty. Earl D.F. Larroder CDA Region 11 Legal Section Chief, Mr. Paul Ryan Simbajon, Cooperative Development Specialist (CDS) II for the Legal Section, Ms. Maria Asela Figuerra, Cooperative Development Specialist (CDS) II for Davao De Oro, and Mr. Louie Camarote of the CDA Region 11 Administration Unit.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Legal Section was at the Municipality of Nabunturan, Davao De Oro during the said date for the conduct of the CDA Omnibus Rules of Procedures Seminar as invited by the Provincial Cooperative Union of Davao De Oro (PCU).

In attendance were roughly around 30 cooperative officers and members from the said municipality. They were given an orientation regarding the CDA Omnibus Rules of Procedures, which outlines the various remedies and actions in relation to the exercise of the quasi-judicial powers of the Authority, among others.

Emphasis was placed on the conduct of the conciliation-mediation mechanism as per Article 137 of Republic Act No. 9520 (Cooperative Code of the Philippines) and Rule II of the CDA Omnibus Rules of Procedures.
