DAVAO CITY, January 25, 2024 — The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region XI Office spearheaded an initiative to enhance the capabilities of coconut farmers in the region. A two-day event, comprising an Assessment, Planning, and Focused Group Discussion, took place on January 24-25, 2024,at Acacia Hotel, Lanang, Davao City.
A total of fifty-three (53) Coconut Farmers’ Cooperatives (CFCs) convened on January 25, 2024 for a focused group session to explore into the shared training needs, challenges, and issues faced by CFCs. The event aimed to foster collaboration and determine potential solutions to strengthen the coconut farmers and their organization.
The discussions revolved around identifying areas for improvement, with a focus on Cooperative Development, Leadership and Cooperative Strengthening, Investment and Business Startup, and Agricultural Knowledge. The comprehensive approach highlights the commitment of the CDA Region XI Office to address the complex needs of coconut farmers.
The initiative signifies a proactive stance by the CDA Region XI Office in fostering sustainable growth within the coconut industry. By identifying and addressing the specific needs of CFCs, the CDA aims to catalyze positive changes, fostering resilience and success among coconut farmers in the region. As the training programs unfold throughout the year, stakeholders anticipate a strengthened cooperative network and a more robust coconut industry in Region XI.
